Shepherding School 7: The Family of God, Our Ways in the Lord

October 27, 2026

(a) Our name

Our Church is called the Family of God Church to reflect God the Father's design that His children, those who have received Christ, are His family, and should relate to one another in love and unity as a family. We regard our elders as fathers and mothers and our peers as brothers and sisters. Because the Lord raised our Church in Africa and then sent us to the rest of the world, we are also known as the African Revival and the Worldwide Family of God Churches.

Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, — Ephesians 3:15

KJV Bible

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: — 1 Peter 2:9

KJV Bible

Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity. — 1 Timothy 5:1-2

KJV Bible

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. — Matthew 28:18-20

KJV Bible

(b) Our foundation

The Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation and Lord of our Church.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. — Matthew 16:18

KJV Bible

According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. — 1 Corinthians 3:10-11

KJV Bible

And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. — 1 Peter 5:4

KJV Bible

(c) Our standard

Our worship, teaching, preaching, practices and way of life are based on the Word of God, not on religious traditions.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. — Galatians 1:8

KJV Bible

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. — 2 Timothy 3:15-17

KJV Bible

But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. — Matthew 15:9

KJV Bible

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. — James 1:22

KJV Bible

(d) Our founder and leader

The founder and leader of our Church, our spiritual father, is Apostle and Prophet Andrew Wutawunashe. The Lord called him in 1975, telling him: "I am calling you. Go out and preach My Word. Tell the unbelievers that there is God. Go out and preach My Word and I will bless you." To reflect this apostolic calling, our umbrella body is called Andrew Wutawunashe World Witness.

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; — Ephesians 2:20

KJV Bible

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: — Galatians 1:15-16

KJV Bible

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. — Joshua 1:1-9

KJV Bible

But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. — Acts 26:16-20

KJV Bible

(e) How to worship and serve

As you seek to worship and serve the Lord in the Family of God Church, be involved in the following things.

There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks; The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands; The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces. — Proverbs 30:24-28

KJV Bible

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. — Romans 12

KJV Bible

(i) Sunday and mid-week church services.

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. — Hebrews 10:25

KJV Bible

(ii) Home Group meetings.

And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, — Acts 20:20

KJV Bible

And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. — Acts 5:42

KJV Bible

(iii) Prayer meetings.

Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. — Acts 3:1

KJV Bible

(iv) Conventions.

And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another. In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us. — Nehemiah 4:19-20

KJV Bible
